My DMs are always full of beauty questions, so I wanted to take some time to answer them for you all here. Have a question you want answered? Send a message to @jonesroadbeauty.
How do you adjust your makeup routine in the warmer summer months?
Forgo foundation, if you wear one, and keep your moisturizer minimal if you have oily skin. You might also have to adjust the shades you wear, especially if you get tan. I recommend having 3-4 shades of the Face Pencil in your makeup bag so you can mix and blend easily.
Miracle Balm is another great way to add a sheer tint and enhance a sunkissed glow. Try Bronze or Tawny in the summer. I also like to switch from lipstick to gloss in the summer. Cool Gloss is super lightweight and is infused with peppermint to keep you feeling cool.
What’s your go-to look for eyes?
For me, it’s a combination of filling in the brows and adding definition with mascara, liner and eyeshadow when you want a deeper look or added sparkle. If you’re going more intense, keep the rest of the face simple. Mecca is wearing Miracle Balm in Bronze and Cool Gloss in Original.
How do you decide when to use brushes vs. your finger to apply shadows?
It’s really up to you— I use both. Personally, I use my fingers when doing my own makeup and brushes on other people. Fingers help create density and brushes diffuse color. Our brushes were designed to be easy to use and versatile.
Eye Fluffy Brush: Use this for all-over color and easy blending.
Eye Blending Brush: Use to diffuse harsh lines and soften edges.
Eye Detail Brush: Use along lower and upper lash lines to pack on pigment and create intensity.
Eyebrow Brush: Use to fill in and groom brows.
